TÜBİTAK Awards Winners in Science Competition

The winners of Secondary Students Research Projects Competition were announced at Gazi University.

The ceremony of 46th ‘Secondary Students Research Projects Competition’ which is one of the significant events organized by TÜBİTAK was held at Gazi University Mimar Kemalleddin Hall on 2 April.

 

 

The works of students participating the event were exhibited at Gazi University Faculty of Engineering between 30 March- 1 April. Students ranking the highest were given awards during the awards ceremony held after the exhibition. Rector Prof. Dr. Süleyman Büyükberber as well as Deputy Director of Education Bayram Güleç, academic staff and students attended the ceremony.

After a moment’s silence and the singing of the national anthem, Rector Prof. Dr. Süleyman Büyükberber made the opening speech and said: ‘I hope the award-winning friends today will continue their successes and get the Turkish championship. Even if they do not get it, they shall not lose hope; this is not a small achievement. You will be great researchers and scientists in the future. There is no doubt about it. I hope the results that will be announced will not make you upset. Do not forget that the greatest success is to strive for something and the greatest gain is to conduct these studies. I congratulate the parents and students. Bringing up a good kid is important.’

Büyükberber also mentioned the successes of Gazi University and stated that with its achievements and infrastructures, Gazi is one of the top five universities in Turkey. He said that Gazi University has a very modern campus and a hospital and he finalized his speech by saying: ‘Our faculties have achievements in many fields. A lot of politicians and businessmen are graduates of Gazi University. I invite all students to Gazi.’

After the speech of Büyükberber, the award ceremony started. Students participated in the competition in a total of 11 categories. Students waiting for the results were very excited. The awards of the students who ranked among the top three were given by the academic staff.  Students from Gazi University Foundation Private Anatolian and Science School ranked in the competition in math, physics and psychology fields. Rector Prof. Dr. Süleyman Büyükberber gave the awards of students who ranked in the field of computer science.
